Pierre Gaillard Crozes-Hermitage · 2023
Pierre Gaillard is a name that means not only experience but also sensitivity to the land in the Northern Rhône. His Crozes-Hermitage 2021 is a perfect example of what an elegant yet expressive Syrah can be. This wine speaks subtly but confidently. The nose reveals notes of black pepper, blackcurrant, a hint of smoke, a touch of olive, and earth. The palate is fresh and mineral, with beautifully integrated tannins and a perfect balance between fruit and structure. 2021 was not an easy year for the Rhone Valley – it was a year when winemakers had to be extremely careful. But that is precisely why this vintage is characterised by its purity and elegance. This is a Syrah that takes its time – it reveals itself in layers, as if breathing with every sip. It pairs well with roast lamb, lamb, or even roasted vegetables with herbs. Or simply with a good book – this wine loves peace and quiet.
