Who we are

SHELF9 is a trading name of Ifwines Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12965646), registered office 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU. VAT number GB375200614. You can reach us at hello@shelf9.uk.

These terms apply to every order you place on this site. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Age

You must be 18 or over to buy from SHELF9. It is an offence for anyone under 18 to buy alcohol, and for anyone to buy it on their behalf. By placing an order you confirm you are 18 or over. The courier may ask for ID and will not hand the parcel to anyone who appears to be under 18. We may cancel an order if we have reason to think it breaks this rule.

Your order

When you place an order we email you to confirm we have received it. The contract between us is made when we email to say your order has been dispatched. Until then we may decline an order, for example if a wine has sold out or was shown at the wrong price. If we do, we refund you in full.

Wines are described as accurately as we can. If the vintage shown has sold out, for wines under £50 a bottle we may send the next vintage of the same wine without asking. For wines at £50 or more, we email you before dispatch so you can accept the new vintage or cancel for a full refund. Either way, you can still return it under “Changing your mind” below.

Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT. Payment is taken by card through Stripe when you order. We never see or store your card details.

Delivery

We deliver anywhere in the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and the islands. Delivery is £9.95, and free on orders of £200 or more. Orders are sent by DHL Express, tracked, and normally arrive within 6–10 working days of dispatch.

Someone aged 18 or over must receive the parcel. If no one is in, DHL tries again the next working day and lets you rearrange delivery or collect from a DHL ServicePoint, where you will need ID. A parcel that DHL cannot deliver or that is not collected comes back to us. We treat that as a cancellation and refund what you paid, less the cost of returning the parcel to us.

Changing your mind

You may cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of the day it is delivered. Tell us by email at hello@shelf9.uk with your order number. You then have a further 14 days to send the wine back, unopened and in its original condition, to the address we give you. You pay the cost of returning it.

We refund the price of the wine and the standard delivery charge you paid within 14 days of receiving the wine back (or proof that you sent it), to the card you paid with. Full details are on our returns page.

Faulty or damaged wine

If a bottle arrives broken, is corked or is otherwise faulty, you are entitled to a replacement or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. See the returns page for how to tell us.

Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there.
