Acústic · 2022
Can gravitas and elegance be associated with a specific aroma? A difficult question to which the Acústic red appears to want to give an answer. Without any undue effort, as your nose gets nearer the glass, you can discern a special, refined character, an elegance and gravitas urging you to trickle the wine onto your taste buds. It has a fresh and yet robust entry, and on its passage through the mouth nothing seems to impose, and that's not due to lacking a prominent feature but because of the perfect harmony among all the elements. It does, of course, have a certain strength and warmth as befits a Mediterranean red, but also clean-cut fruit, unpolluted oak and vibrant acidity. Plums and cherries hide behind roasted and balsamic notes, peppered with violets and coated with a juicy, creamy body of absolute purity. After a vigorous decantation, we'll be transported to the heart of the Montsant, to Mediterranean woodland where the Cariñena works wonders alongside the pleasantness of a lovely sweet Garnacha. If it is hard to turn away from the sight of its legs slowly running down the glass, it is even more difficult to take your nose and lips away from the glass. Its aromas are constantly changing (heather, liquorice, soil, tree bark...) as is to be expected from a wine produced with the fruit of wise old vines. On top of this, the mature tannins and extremely long lingering aftertaste make it a wine too wonderful to resist. But if that is still not enough to convince, its reasonable price, a definite sense of its terroir, a promising future, and the hand of Albert Jané ensure that wine fans will fall in love with this 'unplugged' acoustic wine, a pure wine with no frills.

About the vineyard[+]
Wines of Montsant Located in the heart of Catalonia and neighbouring the famous Priorat, the Montsant wines have gained recognition for their exceptional quality and unique terroir. The Essence of Montsant Montsant wines, known for being rich and fruity, reflect the diversity of its landscape and Mediterranean climate. From the mountains to the plains, each bottle combines tradition and modernity, offering wines with a mineral character and full body. Montsant is a byword as one of the miracles of modern viticulture in Spain. It is a fitting description for this small, young Tarragona DO, which in its short lifetime has caused a sensation both in national and international markets. Its meaty, varietal, expressive wines have impressed the most exacting palates and achieved the highest scores. This has resulted in its wines being the most exported in the whole autonomous community. Diversity and Character The Montsant region, although younger than neighbouring Priorat, has shown an impressive ability to produce wines that stand out on the Spanish wine scene. With indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques, Montsant wines offer unrivalled personality and character. Lying within the Priorat district in the south of Tarragona province, the region encircles neighbouring DOQ Priorat in a horseshoe shape. For this reason, their wines share many common traits but definitely possess their own well-defined personalities. This has been achieved by choosing to mature the wines for shorter periods, which enables a better expression of the qualities of each variety contained in the wine. The most widely known are the red wines produced using the local Garnacha and Cariñena grapes, and the foreign Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah varieties. While with regard to whites, most wines feature the native Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo in their production. A Terroir Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea Montsant's Mediterranean climate, with its mild winters and warm summers, together with the maritime influence, favours the production of balanced, aromatic wines with a refreshing acidity. The terroir, influenced by a variety of soils from chalky to clayey, further enriches the profile of the wines. The relief is less rugged than in neighbouring DOQ Priorat and the vineyards are planted on slightly undulating ground and hillsides, with a mixture of calcareous, granite and slate soils. Taking into account a Mediterranean climate containing a Continental element due to the sheltering mountains that surround the area, its wines are endowed with a well-defined character that makes them pleasurable for the senses. Exquisite Selection Our selection of Montsant wines has been meticulously curated to bring you the very best of this appellation. Whether you are looking for a robust red, a fresh white or an aromatic rosé, we promise that each bottle will be a unique experience, reflecting the essence of the Catalan winemaking tradition.
